Indue Leadership Forum speaker profile: Bernie Brookes, former Myer CEO

For 30 years, Bernie Brookes has been regarded as one of Australia’s most outstanding retailers and business leaders.

Bernie Brookes was at the helm of Myer as CEO for more than 10 years, where he was responsible for rebuilding the Myer business when he started with the company in 2006. This included the development and implementation of the Myer 5-point strategic plan to ensure the business was well-positioned for the ongoing challenges facing the retail industry.

Previously, Bernie was a Managing Director of Woolworths where he was instrumental in Woolworths’ Project Refresh, reducing costs by more than $5 billion over 5 years. His experiences have seen him undertake various roles around the world, including in China and India.

Bernie is an outstanding business leader and was inducted into the Australian Retail Hall of Fame in 2013 – an honour that has been placed on very few.
